World-class customer service and experience is something which we should always strive towards. In June 2017, I was traveling from Port of Spain to London via Miami. My flights commenced with American Airlines from Port of Spain, however, I was supposed to catch a connecting flight in Miami with British Airways (BA) to Heathrow, London. Lo and behold, on that day, all of the Information Technology systems with British Airways were down worldwide and so all BA flights were ground to a halt.
Thankfully, I had a 6-hour layover in which to sort out how I would get over to London. I was especially thankful to be traveling within the American Airlines One World group of companies in which British Airways is a part. The staff at both airlines were very amiable and accommodating. Despite waiting in line to speak with a British Airways Agent, the staff member delivered world-class customer service, answering all questions and advising me on which one world partner to travel with to get over to London. Of course, they advised to use American Airlines since I was flying on a frequent flyer miles ticket, as I have been a part of the frequent flyer club from its inception and they had flown me from Port of Spain to Miami.
The customer service from American Airlines Agent was seamless and world class. The AA Agent ensured that my luggage was located, as it was in transit to British Airways which would have been the original plan, and ensured that it was taken to American Airlines since London’s weather is cold at any time of year. This was a major concern as I needed my belongings especially as I had a tight schedule of events to attend as soon as I landed. In essence, I would have definitely needed my clothes from the get go!
All went and ended well in the end thanks to the folks at American Airlines and the One World Partners.
